Colposcopy Services
HPV (Human Papillomavirus) is a sexually transmitted virus, and high-risk types have the potential to cause cervical cancer. Low-risk HPV types can cause benign growths, which are not malignant, and treatment involves removing these growths.
High-risk HPV types, once diagnosed, will need close follow-up. Your body may fight the HPV virus, or the virus may persist without causing malignant changes. However, some high-risk types with significant oncogenic potential may lead to cervical cancer.

There is a preventive vaccine for HPV which will provide lifelong immunity for the most dangerous HPV types. The vaccine can be given at any age provided that you are tested negative for high-risk HPV types then you can have good protection. Also, it is recommended but not limited to have the vaccine at early age prior to being sexually active and in this case, there is no need to test for HPV prior to vaccination. Please discuss your options with one of our gynaecologists if you wish to learn more.
If you are tested positive for HPV and the smear test showed some abnormal cells, then you will be offered colposcopy to assess your cervix in more detail and to diagnose the level of abnormality. If the assessments show high level of abnormality, you will be offered the surgery to remove abnormal cervical tissue.
Colposcopy Services
Colposcopy is an essential procedure within gynaecological care, offering invaluable insights into cervical health and helping to prevent serious complications such as cervical cancer. Conducting this procedure in a timely and precise manner is crucial; delays or inaccuracies in diagnosis can have significant consequences for a woman’s health. At Grosvenor Gardens Healthcare, one-to-one care with a senior gynaecologist not only enhances the accuracy of colposcopy but also ensures that any necessary interventions are carried out without delay, thereby minimising the risk of progression to more severe conditions.
Furthermore, having one-to-one care throughout the colposcopy process allows you to build a trusting relationship with your gynaecologist. This individual attention helps you feel more confident and well-informed about your health and the decisions made regarding your care. Unfortunately, the high costs associated with maintaining high standards of private gynaecological care in the UK mean that this level of personalized service is not accessible to everyone. At Grosvenor Gardens Healthcare, we are committed to providing the highest quality care, ensuring that those who can access our services receive the best possible support and outcomes.
